Over one hundred tiny chapels are dotted around the town creating a striking contrast against the deep blue skies. More than 50% of the island is covered by a virgin forest of pine trees. All over the island honey is collected and sold in small stores and supermarkets. The olive press in Glossa collects and sells olive oils in attractive bottles. There are several families on the island who collect fruits (plums, cherries) and make sweets from them. It is called in Greece "one spoonful of sweetness" and it is served on a small plate with a small spoon with the fruit and with a small cup of Greek coffee. There is one shop which sells just those products; plums, cherries, oranges, mandarin, grapes, figs, quince and courgettes in syrup. Beautiful pottery can be found where plates, jars, cups are all hand painted in all the colours of the rainbow.
