Katelios, on the eastern side of Kefalonia, is the perfect destination for a tranquil holiday and some enchanting walks. Spend lazy relaxing on the two small beaches. Agia Varvara, is the main beach and consists of sand and shingle, fringed by pine trees and eucalyptus bushes. A short walk past the river and you’ll find yourself on the second beach of Agia Barbara. For the chance to see nesting loggerhead turtles we highly recommend Kaminia, also known as Turtle Beach, it is only a two kilometre walk away and well worth the visit. One of Kefalonia’s longest beaches, leisurely stretch out on the colourful sunbeds and gaze out at the endless expanse of blue sea, with shallow waters ideal for a refreshing swim after your walk there.
If you're a fan of walking, then this really is the perfect base from which to get out and about, where you can enjoy up close the wild flowers and rare bird life that are prevalent in this area. Typically and authentically Greek, Katelios is where you come to disconnect and reconnect with life. It’s unashamedly unhurried here and great for enjoying evenings mixing with locals in the friendly tavernas and fish restaurants. Still within easy reach of the busier towns, we recommend hiring a car to make even more of your holiday. Visit nearby Skala, which is only a 10 minute drive away, or Argostoli, the Island’s capital, which is 32 kilometres away. With so much to see and do, why limit yourself to just one resort?
