When the Mamma Mia! cast and crew stayed at the luxurious Skiathos Princess Hotel, on the island of Skiathos, owner Vicky Santikos treated them all just as she does every other guest – with a warm and friendly welcome to her beachfront family hotel.
Everyone had ‘the time of their lives’ says Vicky. “Several of the stars brought their families with them while filming, including Colin Firth and Pierce Brosnan.”
Vicky said: “It was lovely to see these very busy people enjoying the hotel, pool and beach, all having quality family time in-between the filming.
The whole time the Mamma Mia! team were here, there was so much laughter!
“Colin Firth’s wife, Livia, and their young boys were able to have fun and relax while Colin was filming and he would join them later for a family dinner in the restaurant.
“There was a great atmosphere around the hotel, everyone said they enjoyed their sunshine time on the island. We loved it; the whole time the Mamma Mia! team were here, there was so much laughter!
“One day, a young boy at the hotel kept telling his parents he had seen James Bond. The next day he did the same until they realised it was Pierce Brosnan, who played 007! They approached him and Pierce was so friendly and got talking to the family.”
Vicky added: “It is unusual for actors to be together for an extended time during filming. Usually they fly in and out of film shoots but on this occasion, many of the cast and crew stayed together, like a family. It was amazing, a really special time.
“I got to know some the cast well and we still celebrate Mamma Mia! at the hotel. If guests want a private Mamma Mia! party or an event we can do that!
“Guests can also visit places where filming took place on Skiathos and Skopelos or get into theme at Mamma Mia! film nights.
